What is The Pizza Hall of Fame?
It was always a dream of PMQ's to produce the Pizza Hall of Fame and create an actual facility to showcase those landmark and legendary pizzerias that have made this food and industry so loved. It finally dawned on Steve Green and Editor-in-Chief Tom Boyles that with so many great pizzerias out there, the best way to honor and applaud them would not be to build a single facility, but to identify, induct and proclaim legendary and landmark pizzerias all across the globe as being part of the Pizza Hall of Fame.
The first inductee was Lombardi's Pizza, located at 32 Spring Street in New York City in 2005. The reason this location was chosen was it was the first pizzeria to open in the United States and 2005 was the 100 th anniversary of their opening. Each year, new inductees will be presented with a plaque commemorating them that is to be placed in or on the location selected. We salute these businesses for their passion and contributions to this industry and congratulating them for being leaders in their field.
PMQ Magazine was first published in 1997 by Steve Green as a trade publication serving the pizza industry. Steve has built, owned and operated pizza stores in California, New York and Mississippi. He consults with many of the nation's top pizza operators and vendors and has toured thousands of pizza stores worldwide during the last 20 years. Steve was one of the original founders of Cyberslice, which was the first national Web service to sell pizza online. Cyberslice went on to become food.com.
Steve was the president and creator of Pizza Smarts (Green Mail) computer marketing system, which helped pizza operators use their computers and databases to sell more pizza. He has also been a pizza store manager, multi-store Domino's Pizza franchisee, marketing director, marketing consultant and advertising executive. As the former marketing director for the largest Domino's Pizza franchisee, he was responsible for setting the national Domino's Pizza grand opening sales record at $37,000 first week sales. This was only one of the new and innovative store marketing plans he designed and executed, which were adopted by and became part of Domino's renowned marketing savvy of the 1980s.
Since then, PMQ has grown to be the world's largest pizza magazine with a worldwide circulation of over 55,000. PMQ publishes a U.S. edition, a Canadian edition and an Australian/New Zealand edition in addition to producing the New York Pizza Show each November at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.
